Wings In Motion: Cyclicity
Lord K: Completely meaningless “metal”. No keyboards and female vocals can save this mess. Am I the only one who understands how to do this combination properly? Yes, I am. 4
Ironpants: I don’t know? Some kind of mix between metal core, progressive metal and power metal? Pretty good (b)ass player though.5
Cobal: In favor of these guys I’ll say it took me quite a while to identify exactly who they reminded me of. This is like Symphony X with some unnecessary harsher approach. 5
Habakuk: Next time I’m looking for some unobtrusive semi-metal, I’ll try and remember their name. 6.
The Duff: A good vocalist when he isn’t screaming. The music is a little Soilwork, a little Rhapsody (of Fire now, I think), a little Nightwish, a little God Forbid, a little Dream Theater/Pain of Salvation. 5
Hardcore Anal Hydrogen: The talas of Satanczerwien
Lord K: Fuck you. 1
Ironpants: I hardly have time to listen to shit that I like, now I have to listen to shit I fucken hate also? 2
Cobal: Here you go all my extra points for making me laugh so hard. 3
Habakuk: A round of applause for some undeniable creativity, please. 6
The Duff: A very creative, out-there band. Tracks are grind-length, the vocals are evidently very striking, punk-screams through a filter of some kind, almost gameboy loops. These guys might be Asian; they have a way of making it work somehow. 6
Decembre Noir: A discouraged believer
Lord K: I fell asleep 400 times listening to this. And that was just during the first song. Suddenly some more death metal-ish parts woke me up. And then I fell asleep again. 3
Ironpants: Boring as fuck and also fucking boring on top of that. 3
Cobal: A moniker like black December will always have my approval—even if only because it’s as childish as I am. Their music won’t. 5
Habakuk: Boo hoo hurrrghhhhhh! 5
The Duff: This sounds like a one-man band to me, a tale of passion. The lyrics are inspiration. Gothic-doom with hints of folk – I will probably listen to the whole thing many times for the lyrics man hahaha they are too good I urge you all to by the album and do the same. 4
Holz: Emulating felicity
Lord K: This instrumental djent thing gets kinda boring fast, but I dig it in small doses. 5
Ironpants: When I did my military service, there was a dude named Holz in my platoon. I think it sounded like this in his head when he didn’t focus. He lost one rifle and two handgrenades before they took him out of service. 6
Cobal: They really need to integrate the djent and the progressive-ish/drone parts a lil better. 5
Habakuk: “Holz” means “wood” in German. 6
The Duff: Not bad at all – instrumental djent, Meshuggah’s “Nothing” without vocals springs to mind, unsettling aspects and all. Some of the tracks are sprawling. 7
Among The Prey: My demons
Lord K: Only 2 songs on this one. That is more than enough when it comes to modern groove metal. 5
Ironpants: Pretty good shit, but I hate the inhale sound from the singer before every line he sings, that fucking annoys me. 5
Cobal: Just two melodic death songs that are both groovy and decent. They’re alright in my book, even with that modern touch of fakeness. 6
Habakuk: Three word band. Two songs. Nah. 4
The Duff: Not for me, not a bad band at all really – melodeath meets wide melodic choruses, probably American. 4
Krymzon: Origins
Lord K: Awesome spelling of the band name, awesome music, awesome hairdo’s. Even more awesome would be if these clowns fucked the fuck off forever. 2
Ironpants: Maybe the suckiest drumsound I’ve heard for a long time, and the singer is up front, in your face with zero reverb. Come on, shape up and deliver, you have some good shit lingering somewhere beneath the crap. 4
Cobal: All furious, boring, irrelevant and “authentic”, this is the kind of thrash metal I’m used to listening to when I attend low budget local gigs. I don’t need this at home. 4
Habakuk: Basement thrash of the hardly listenable kind. 5
The Duff: If Lamb of God wrote Anthrax. A vocalist is singing outside of his range and sounding like a cross of High on Fire and Darkthrone. Some of the music here though is rousing, with empowering group chants like the classic 80s Bay Area sound and even a stomping riff or two. 6
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
